Accelerating India’s Medical Innovation Ecosystem — ICMR Medical Innovations Public-Private Partnership Unit

Mandate 01 — Nurturing and protecting India’s biomedical innovation ecosystem: identifying, protecting and strategically using intellectual property, and accelerating translation and commercialisation of innovations through Medical Innovations Patent Mitra.
Mandate 02 — Facilitating patent filing and technology transfer through Medical Innovations Patent Mitra.
Mandate 03 — Biomedical innovation facilitation through the ICMR–CDSCO MedTech Mitra initiative: strategic handholding support for clinical evaluation, regulatory facilitation and uptake of indigenous health technologies.
Mandate 04 — Incubate, translate, scale: biomedical entrepreneurship and technology translation ecosystem development — turning ideas into solutions through partnerships, incubation and ecosystem support. Driven by the ICMR Medical Innovations PPP Unit.
Mandate 05 — Connect, collaborate, co-create: driving other innovator- and industry-facing initiatives to advance the biomedical innovation ecosystem across digital health, assistive tech, therapeutics, medical devices, in-vitro diagnostics, emerging tech, vaccines and bio-material transfers.

Advancing Biomedical Innovation Ecosystem

The ICMR–Medical Innovations Public-Private Partnership (MI-PPP) Unit is a dedicated unit for advancing biomedical innovation, technology translation and public–private collaboration. Established at ICMR Headquarters, New Delhi, it helps promising innovations move from research and intellectual property protection to validation, technology transfer, commercialization and adoption.
